By putting a cutting spindle on the end of a robot a machine can be made with a large working volume. This makes sense in some applications and not in others. A machining robot offers high flexibility and a large working volume but it can lack the accuracy of a CNC machine or router and can move under the cutting force. Where the cutting loads are low and accuracy requirements can be met robotic machining can be a very cost effect solution for large jobs. Applications like
